Johns Creek Schools – Johns Creek, GA – Redistricting

Johns Creek Schools – Johns Creek School redistricting

It has taken three rounds of maps and hearings, the final school redistricting map being submitted doesn’t match any of the previous alternatives shown to residents in Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Milton and Roswell. That’s just as Fulton County School System staff promised.

It appears that the attendance zones will only change for Roswell, Milton and Alpharetta high schools, with no changes east of GA 400. Chattahoochee, Johns Creek, Northview and Centennial high schools may not have any changes to attendance zones if the school board adopts this recommendation.

And the division in attendance zone boundaries is close to what many parents were hoping for, more along the lines of a north-south split to match the major roads in the area.

The final recommendation to the Fulton County Board of Education will be presented at its work session on Tuesday, May 10. Presentations typically begin at 2 p.m. though the meeting begins
at 12:30 p.m. with an executive session and continues through to 6:30 p.m. when public can share their comments.

No vote will be taken at this meeting, though the board members could direct staff to make even more changes. Please stay tuned for the updates.

The school board’s first chance to take action on the redistricting proposal will be on May 19 at its regulary scheduled meeting.
